It was consistently modified and improved throughout its production, but the basics of the car remained the same. It was inexpensive to run and very reliable. In the 1960s, it was a symbol of the “hippie” generation. This Revell model kit features a detailed 1500 cc rear mounted engine with opening hood, positional front wheels, and optional right- or left-hand driving positions. It is molded in white and clear with chrome plated parts and soft black tires. Requires paint and glue (not included). The original Type 1s were efficient and inexpensive marvels of engineering. The type became so popular that over 21 million Beetles have been produced throughout their 65-year production run. It has taken nearly fifty years for the automotive industry to create cars to match the Beetle.
