Produced by the prestigious United States Mint, the release of the 2023 1/2 oz American Gold Eagle represents the 37th anniversary of the series.About the grade and certification: Sourced directly from the U.S. Mint, the coins are offered to you in a Brilliant Uncirculated grade with the original mint box and a certificate of authenticity.About the coin: Struck in 91.67% purity (22-karat) the coin contains 0.5000 gold troy ounce and weighs 0.5455 troy ounce (16.966 g), in addition to 3% of silver and a balance copper. The coin is a legal tender backed by the U.S. Government (authorizing legislation: Public Law 99-185) and has a denomination of twenty-five dollars (USD). They’re also allowed in an IRA.The obverse features a design inspired by Adolph A. Weinman’s original creation with Lady Liberty draped in an American flag, walking gracefully as the sun rises over a ridge, symbolizing the enlightenment and hope that freedom represents and the importance of embracing peace to enrich ourselves with the hopes of a brighter life. Thanks to technological advancements in the design and minting process, the design now encompasses some of Weinman’s original details that were not previously possible. The refresh includes modifications to the Capitol Building, stars, torch, sun rays, and other design elements. The inscriptions “Liberty, 2023” are found.The reverse was designed by Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) artist Emily Damstra and was sculpted by Mint medallic artist Michael Gaudioso. Depicting a bald eagle landing with an oak branch held in its talons as it prepares to land in a nest.
