About the Artist We don’t know if we can come up with any better words to describe Audra Kubat than the ones we used to introduce her to you on our front page. In Detroit, she is the most inclusive artist we can think of. Whether performing with Garage-icons The Demolition Dollrods or rock-stalwarts like Sponge, Audra is indeed the folk singer rock folk have come to love. When Detroit’s favorite, and nationally acclaimed poet, Blair, volunteers to write your bio, there’s very little left for little old us to do but to leave words to the wordsmith. So, without further ado, here’s Blair’s description of Audra Kubat: “Audra Kubat is a force of nature; a strong wind that blows past and transcends fads; a flower that’s blossomed from coffeehouse gigs into larger theater and festival performances. Audra wears her influences—Joni, Miles, Billie, and Nick Drake like a coat of many colors rewoven into a ” ruggedly pretty ” and haunting style all her own.
